The regulations in force on the stocking and valorization of sludge from urban and industrial purification stations raise a range of problems for operators :
- size of stock pools
- cost of transporting and handling
- cost of spreading
- cost of final treatments (composting, dehydrating, incinerating etc.)

As these points are mainly connected with the low concentration of sludge in dry matter, Société Poitevine de Filtration has developed equipment for appreciably increasing this parameter :
THE "CONCENTRATEC" DRAINING SCREW.

- Urban purification station sludge - primary, biological, bacterial beds etc.
- Industrial purification station sludge - agricultural foodstuffs, petrochemicals, refineries etc.
- Any type of "flocculatable" sludge "
Draining :

The flocculated sludge is conveyed by an Archimedes screw to a separating grid with Vee-shaped bars forming a trough. The free water flows through the grid as the sludge progresses. At the screw end the line of sludge formed in this way, some of the bonded water which it contains is released by means of careful stirring.
A brush located at the periphery of the screw simultaneously provides sealing between the grid and the screw and cleans the inner face of the grid.
The thickened sludge is then cleared away by gravity at the screw end and the filtrates are collected in a catch tank before being cleared away by overflowing.

 
Cleaning :

Washing ramps located under the separating grid are for cleaning it with a particularly effective counterflow.

This trailer is easy to move and connectable to fixed existing facilities, is particularly designed for station operators and autonomously thickens without human monitoring waste sludges collected from several purification stations when unit production does not justify a fixed facility.
